Operated by the SIGEPRAG
Situated in Owendo, to 15 Km of Libreville, it owes its site, in favor of the Tip of Pongara on the left strand of the Komo, to /its geographical position to the bottom of the estuary of the Komo and to the quality of its roadstead.
These determining elements, make of this site a preferential zone for the development of the harbor activities within a port says in deep water. This report results from studies achieved by the Marine French, at the end of the 19th century (Mission BOURGOIN in 1892 and AUDOIN mission in 1913).

This project will succeed in the years 70, following the studies hired by the Central Office of study for the Facilities of overseas (BCEOM) to the demand of the Gabonese Government.
The roadstead of Owendo remained during a long time a zone of attraction for the foresters. The office of wood, ancestor of the National Society of the Woods of Gabon (SNBG), had installed a city destined to the staff affected to the exploitation of the balls of Okoumé there.

The piloting and towage service ensured by SIGEPRAG company works in Owendo harbour
Piloting is compulsory for ships having over 150 tons of net gauge in the piloting zone demarcated with a 3 mile circle of beam focused on the south west semaphore of Owendo. |

The ship to pilot link is made through VHF radio channels 12/16.
Towing is compulsory for any ships over 500 tons of gross gauge.
Inshore piloting service and the harbour master's office is open 24/7. |

Harbour installations

| The trading quay of Owendo is made with a landing stage of pavement on stilts type. Built from 1969 to 1974, it measures 445m x 70 m and is linked to earth by a 42m x 45m gateway. The work is levelled at level +4,58 hydro. The main wharf is dredgeable at the 11 metre level but needs regular maintenance dredges.

A 5 hectare platform for goods stocking. Since its introduction into service in 1974, other equipments were born and came to strengthen structures of harbour complex of Owendo.
